Iran today stands at one of the most sensitive and consequential moments in its contemporary history. The struggle of the Iranian people for freedom has entered a decisive stage, and the fate of the country depends more than ever on national solidarity, the organization of freedom-loving and patriotic forces, and the emergence of broad cooperation among Iranians.
Under these circumstances, Shahzadeh Reza Pahlavi, in his recent messages and statements, has called on Iranians across the world to redouble their efforts and activities in support of the struggle of the Iranian people and to continue this historic path with greater unity.
In response to this call, and in order to strengthen cooperation and solidarity among freedom-loving and patriotic forces, a coalition of Iranian associations, organizations, and activists from various countries around the world, together with groups from inside Iran, has come together to establish the Lion and Sun Front of Iran as a step toward organizing national solidarity and supporting the struggle of the Iranian people for freedom.
The formation of this Front is a response to the current need of Iran’s freedom movement for greater coordination, for the organization of the capacities of freedom-seeking forces, and for transforming the national solidarity of Iranians into an effective force on the path toward transition from the Islamic Republic and the achievement of freedom and democracy in Iran.
This Front has also been formed with the aim of identifying, organizing, and developing those forces that, in the course of the struggles of recent years, especially from among the younger generation, have entered Iran’s political and national arena and can play an effective role on the path to the country’s freedom.
The fundamental principles of the Lion and Sun Front of Iran are:
the overthrow of the Islamic Republic
belief in Iran’s territorial integrity and the unity of the Iranian nation
the separation of religion from government
guaranteeing individual freedoms and equal rights for all citizens regardless of belief, ethnicity, and gender
the right of the Iranian people to determine the form of the country’s future democratic system through a free referendum
The Lion and Sun Front of Iran believes that victory in the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom will only be possible through national solidarity, the organization of freedom-loving forces, and broad cooperation among Iranians.
We in the Lion and Sun Front of Iran regard Shahzadeh Reza Pahlavi as the leader of Iran’s national revolution and the leader of the transitional period. Today, he enjoys the support of millions of Iranians inside and outside the country, and as a figure who has become more than ever a symbol of Iranian national solidarity, he has played an important role in shaping this national consensus. We believe that his role in strengthening national solidarity and guiding the country along the path toward a democratic system is decisive and historic.
We invite all Iranian associations, organizations, and freedom-loving and patriotic forces throughout the world to join the Lion and Sun Front of Iran in order to strengthen national solidarity and support the struggle of the Iranian people for freedom.
The Lion and Sun Front of Iran is an effort to transform the national solidarity of Iranians into a decisive force on the path to freedom, transition from the Islamic Republic, and the building of a democratic future for Iran.
